Eventually back home in Ardèche!

July 2nd, 2009

In the end, it’s been one month to cycle from Dundee to my home in Ardèche… with quite a few stops here and there! (Edinburgh, Newcastle, Amsterdam, Dordrecht and other places in Holland….) especially in Grenoble, but somehow there’s sort of my home too, I enjoyed being there and will be back soon in order to prepare the tandem for the next trip, rather soon! UN PTI VELO DANS LA TETE !!!
Until that, I’ll have some nice time at Mum’s home in Soyons, doing some various stuff and relaxing in an outstanding place….
see you , take care, and get on your bike!

Alone bit in Eastern France..

quicly hitting the road..

I’m in France!

June 24th, 2009

and since a couple of days moreover!
SORRY for those who come and take a look at this page, and find it NOT up to date: I’m not as efficient and reliable as I expected! although I carry a laptop, few chances on the road to hook up a network, few to refill the battery.. and in Holland I met Xavier, from CouchSurfing, we then spent a full week together and it’s been rather crazy, some cycling (from Dordrecht to Belgium, through Maastricht over to Luxemburg from north to south, back in Belgium and France up to Metz) but not at a very high speed nor daily distance, but a lot of fun, a lot of dumpster diving, , some local pubs and plenty of people met with good fun along the way, one “fete de la musique” the 21st in Thionville; it was awsome!
Sorry too for those who’d like some more pictures, this website is limited at 50Mb, so I will set up a Picasa page with the mictures of this trip in one week or so…
thanks, see you all!

Time to leave the Netherlands!

June 16th, 2009

After quite a few days spent here rather quickly, I eventually met Xavier and he was here since even longer, itchy to get back onto the road, so we’re heading south today, as the time is definitely too short for my first expected route (no stop in MUenster, shorter trip in Germany) ; so the next plan is B-Lux-F-D-F.
we’ll now experience to fact to be 2 on the road and see how it works…

about to leave Holland…

June 15th, 2009

Holland is such a country where you can feel kind of ‘stack’ and the time flies even faster than somewhere else… I landed up in Dordrecht, south Holland( zuid ) and got to meet Xavier, a CSer I was meant to meet earlier, plus her host I was been told about since days, and an other Finnish Cser; arriving on festival time it was just great and afterwards we’ve been out and stuff, pretty tired since the precedent time; 130km (80 headwinds), a 06H30 wakeup in Dam, an exhausting time in Dam, and 3 previous days waking up at 05H30, 05H00 an 06H30.. mais C cool, donc apres bonne soirée, days of in south Dordrecht, chill out here and around, and about to go out in the city to see all that..

Zuid Holland

June 15th, 2009

Leaving Amsterdam fairly early (08H00 on the bike), after a long night out (so a 2hish sleep..) and heading towards Utrecht to meet Peter, a GREAT biketraveller… then along the Rhin river, very nice piece of ride, tring to use a bit the drafts (draught?) we had to split at some point cause he was heading towards Eindodoven. He was a very interesting man, travelling with very few stuff, sometimes even 2 panniers are enough, he has a rather basic moutain bike and went far… for a long time and on tight budget…  to Dordrecht through the great historic mills…
